Dear Gossips,

There’s a rumour circulating that Madonna will perform at halftime at the Super Bowl. Her people have not denied the report which basically means they’re still negotiating. Some people are questioning whether or not Madonna’s audience is a Super Bowl audience.

The people who watch the Super Bowl for the actual Super Bowl will watch the Super Bowl no matter who’s performing at the half. They want the people who might not otherwise watch the Super Bowl to be watching the Super Bowl. If I’m Madonna though, I’m wondering whether or not I want to join The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Petty - all past Super Bowl performers post Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake tit-flash (which he was a total pussy about and never had her back) of a certain, um, generation. You know how Madonna feels about being part of that, um, generation, right? After all, look at her face.

And since Justin Timberlake ripped open Janet Jackson’s breast flap, Super Bowl halftime performances are nothing if not super, super, super safe. If there is to be a Madonna at the Super Bowl, it likely won’t be the humping or girl-kissing kind. Especially not in this environment. Because Madge still needs to sell, sell, sell for Live Nation. There’s a new album coming in the Spring. Madge gets into bed with Budweiser?

Very curious to see how this plays out.
