It’s a movie starring Oscar winners Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman directed by Joel Schumacher. Something about a rich family getting trapped in their home by thieves and going postal on the gangsters in retaliation. Have you seen the poster? It’s AWFUL. And the tagline?
When terror is at your doorstep you can run or you can fight
Um, is Nic Cage poor? Well, actually, yes, he is. He needs every job he can get right now. And, frankly, given his body of work these days, Trespass isn’t really an anomaly on his resume. Nicole Kidman though...
I have no idea the motivation behind this.
But maybe Trespass isn’t as awful as the poster suggests? The trailer just dropped this week. Have a look.
Ummmm...
It looks so bad it might be, like, campy hilariously bad but good, you know? I’m not sure though that that was the intended effect. And I’m not sure they even know what the intended effect was in the first place. Because Trespass is due in theatres on October 14th. Great. Great? It’s also due on DVD two weeks later. That’s... not usually a formula for confidence. That usually means we don’t think anyone will see this movie so let’s bury it and try and get back as much as money as possible on home video.
But!
Trespass is coming to TIFF!
The movie that is almost going straight to DVD will screen in Toronto. So... maybe it doesn’t actually suck as much as you’d assume? I don’t get it either. I do know however that I will have a great time watching Gran Nicole’s face try to convey shock, fear, despair, determination, and cunning in such amount of time.
