There’s a behind-the-scenes video of a photo shoot featuring James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender for DETAILS making its way around today. Obviously for the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past release. Both are squinting real hard through their shots.
The furrowed brow. The stern expressions. The concentration. The focus. The totality of MAN. Is that why Justin Bieber does it?
It’s one thing to see it in a still. When there’s so much of it compiled in a two minute video like this, from two different men, you appreciate the…effort behind the illusion of MAN. What would be the effect of relaxing the forehead? Innocence? Sensitivity? Weakness?
So interesting too that women are rarely seen photographed with the creases between their eyes. Mostly, those spaces in the face, where females are concerned, appear to be blank and smooth. Untroubled. Uncomplicated. There’s nothing to worry about, nothing to think about.
I enjoy it most though when McAvoy breaks “character” and laughs. I enjoy it best when they’re laughing together. Except, well, Fassbender’s teeth are really yellow.
