James McAvoy was on Jonathan Ross this weekend. So was Barry Manilow. And it turns out McAvoy is a Fanilow. He told Ross that he used to dress up in his sisters “wee white trousers” as a kid to sing “the love story of Tony and Lola”. McAvoy is all about Copacabana.
Oh but you can’t talk about Copacabana without singing Copacabana, right? Can you imagine singing Copacabana with Barry himself? It’s every Fanilow’s greatest wish.
So he probably practised. Of course he practised. This was not entirely spontaneous…but should that take away from your enjoyment of it? F-ck no. Especially when he sings not bad, McAvoy. Not bad at all.
