Jamie Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, was Miss Golden Globe this year. And his was bursting with pride when he introduced her to the audience. While presenting Best Score though… well…
Not going to lie. Of course there was a part of me that was, like, HELL YEAH, Straight Outta Compton. How does that film, which is ABOUT MUSIC, and they have an entire category for musicals and comedies at the Globes, get shut out of any nominations? But there is a time and a place. And the time to jack a moment isn’t when someone else is being honoured, quite deservedly, for an entire body of work. I take no credit though for this mature perspective. Duana, of course, is the one who told me to grow some class.
Quentin Tarantino could probably use some class too. Because following Jamie’s shenanigans, while waving Ennio Morricone’s trophy around and showing off his film nerd credentials, actually got it wrong when he declared that Morricone had “never won an award for any one individual movie at a US awards show”. Twitter immediately told him he was wrong. And then like a jackass he turned into Justin Timberlake and made the entire moment about himself. So that entire category pretty much became two blowhards trying to out-blowhard each other. Standard Hollywood then?
