Jennifer Aniston was at a special screening of Cake hosted by American Cinematheque yesterday in Hollywood. The Q&A was moderated by her Horrible Bosses 2 co-star Jason Bateman. Is it corny here to make a joke about having your cake and eating it too?
I understand the strategy here. But last week I wrote about Aniston’s hopes for Cake and campaigning for it at the same time as promoting Horrible Bosses 2. The word “Norbit” was invoked. Click here for a refresher.
Right now, Horrible Bosses 2 is rating at only 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. And while there are only 7 critics represented, The Wrap, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, HitFix, and ScreenCrush have all reached consensus. Their position is that Horrible Bosses 2 is sh-t. And wearing sh-t while trying to convince people you belong on the award circuit isn’t ideal. It certainly didn’t work for Eddie Murphy. Then again, Eddie Murphy isn’t America’s Sweetheart. Maybe Horrible Bosses 2 will hit it at the box office on Aniston’s appeal.
Or will the box office be dominated by Katniss?
