Jennifer Aniston is promoting The Switch. The movie opens on August 20th. So it’s a new photo shoot with Harper’s Bazaar and this time Jen gets to play dress-up as Barbra Streisand. The pictures are beautiful, Jen looks great, my favourite is attached along with the cover but to see the entire set, and they’re all worth seeing, click here.
As for the interview, well, it’s Harper’s Bazaar and it’s Jennifer Aniston and that combination will only yield clichés and platitudes and sh-t that means nothing, only this time she’s trying to front like the spirit of Streisand is buried within her. Please.
Jennifer has long idolized Streisand, patron saint of stage and screen (two Academy Awards, eight Grammys) and the exemplar of times-they-are-a-changing feminism, who is, of course, more than a muse. She's an icon.
Exactly. So would Streisand make movies like The Bounty Hunter over and over and over again? Movies that depict women one dimensionally who can only be fulfilled by man and love? You ask me why I’m hard on Jennifer Aniston. I’m hard on her because the game she sells sounds so good but the game she actually plays is the worst fraud there is. Jennifer Aniston is not an example. Jennifer Aniston is what we shouldn’t. And Jennifer Aniston is certainly NOT Barbra Streisand.
"Barbra inspires me because there isn't anything she hasn't done that she wanted to do, especially as a female in the time when her generation was prime. She's a true renaissance woman. I had a long conversation with Barbra about directing because I directed a short a couple years ago, and if I don't do it again soon, I'm going to burst out of my skin. And we also love interior design. Also, we are people who have been put in the spotlight, for better or for worse, and you just keep riding, and you keep overcoming, and you just stay true to what you love to do."
Directing is a beautiful ambition. It’s wonderful that Jen is so hungry to do it and feels like she’ll burst out of her skin if she doesn’t do it again soon. Is that bursting happening before or after making inane chick movie after chick movie with Gerard Butler? Because it’s not like she needs the money, you know?
