ELLE has a new a feature on Jennifer Lawrence. She’s starting promotion for X-Men: First Class. Remember the red Baywatchy dress she wore at the Oscars? She says she got into it with a philly steak sandwich:
“Fifteen minutes before, the guy doing my hair goes, ‘If you can get a salad, get a salad…I said, ‘I’m getting a Philly cheesesteak.’ I’m sure there’s proof on a hotel bill somewhere.”

I gave an interview recently to a magazine that was preparing an article on celebrities and food and the ongoing trend of female stars dropping food hints into articles to suggest that they don’t starve in order to look the way they do, knowing the Hollywood reputation requiring women to look a certain way, and the lengths they go to to achieve that, as if to suggest that just because they SAY they eat, it totally must be true. Have you noticed? Pay attention to it over the next little while. It’s like they’ve been coached to do it.

Jennifer however insists she isn’t about to follow the Kate Bosworth body mold, and in preparation for her role as Mystique, she wanted some curves:

“I knew that if I was going to be naked in front of the world, I wanted to look like a woman and not a prepubescent 13-year-old boy…I’m so sick of people thinking that’s what we’re supposed to look like.”

I want to believe this right now. But I feel like we’ve all seen it go the other way. She demonstrated some thinnification during award season, non? It wasn’t extreme though. And hopefully she stays the same, even though I’m curious how she’ll transform to become Katniss in The Hunger Games. Lawrence hasn’t been seen publicly in a long time, and certainly not since she’s confirmed the role. Wonder if she’ll step out for the X-Men press tour. It’s coming up, we’ll know soon enough.

These photos for ELLE though, they do give you a sense of how different she can look from shot to shot, especially the image of her with her hair back, darker, with a pronounced part. But it’s a stretch to believe she’s 16 here. They’ll have some costume and makeup trickery to perform on that Hunger Games set for sure. Mostly though, seeing her here only reinforces how wrong I think Josh Hutcherson’s Peeta really is.
