She’s on the cover of the April issue looking really good, but I also wonder why they chose to go with studio shots as opposed to a more interesting visual. Where Jennifer Lopez is concerned, there’s always a story behind the shot.
The entire article has been posted on the Vogue website; it’s a total dick suck. Her laugh is so delightful. She’s not a bitch. She’s really, really beautiful. Her legs are the best.
Oh yeah, and the backup dancer is around. Loving her and living in her house.
There are two standout parts for me in the article. The first happens when the journalist is instructed to wait for JLo in her office and makes note of, ahem, her reading material:
A quick glance at the shelves reveals a taste for the classics (The Grapes of Wrath, Shakespeare); memoir (Arthur Miller’s Timebends); and self-help (Lies at the Altar: The Truth About Great Marriages).
As IF...
JLo reads...books!
And Steinbeck no less?
Buried within all the ass-kissing however is this rather remarkable mention:
(One wishes that in her music she would move on from that J.Lo club-girl persona.) Perhaps it’s time for her to return to where she began, with smart roles in great movies. First she will have to weather the slings and arrows that will come from her appearance in the disappointing What to Expect When You’re Expecting, an ensemble comedy directed by Kirk Jones that is inspired by the famous book—and is a perfect example of all that is wrong in Hollywood lately, reminding me of the Macbeth line “sound and fury signifying nothing.”
That’s about as strong as it gets in a celebrity fluff piece. He basically says the movie is sh-t. And we know it’s sh-t (because have you seen the trailer???) But to have this acknowledged in a star profile in a major magazine ...
Two things: the movie must be really, really, REALLY undeniably atrocious... and did her people get a preview copy of the piece before it went to print?
Between this and Benny Medina’s candid commentary on how she slums through her love life (he says he tells this to her face all the time), I’m wondering how badly her PR wanted, or needed, this opportunity.
