Jennifer Lopez is getting some heat for her new song, Ain’t Your Mama. First of all, as I mentioned yesterday in Smutty Tingles, it’s a terrible song – written by Meghan Trainor and produced by Dr Luke. Which is the problem. Ain’t Your Mama is, supposedly, a feminist anthem and Dr Luke has been accused of emotionally and sexually abusing Kesha. Many female artists have spoken out to support Kesha including Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift donated a quarter of a million dollars.

So… is it fair to sh-t on JLO for this, especially when the subject matter is so femme fist-pumpy? Well she wouldn’t be the first. Like, if you’re going to drag JLO you may as well drag Meghan Trainor. And Lady Gaga for working with R Kelly. And Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet for working with Roman Polanski. And maybe even Cate Blanchett, Emma Stone, Scarjo, and so many others for collaborating with Woody Allen, the implication being that they should be repping for all women and speaking up and taking a stand. Yes. Of course. Of course.

But you know pisses me off about that? Those dudes, they were the f-cking gross assholes. And their victims were women. And after all of that, it’s still women who have to take on the responsibility and spend the energy and risk (the risk of reputation, of putting yourself out there, the risk of criticism), women who have to carry that stress, that job, even though it was a man who was a piece of sh-t in the first place. It makes me tired.

Let me pile on to that fatigue with this shot of JLO after the American Idol finale yesterday at LAX, with her kids and Casper Smart who showed up on Shades Of Blue this week because he totally earned that job.
