Do you practise your smile? Like for pictures? Do you prefer yourself in pictures smiling with your mouth closed or your mouth open? What? You’ve never thought about it before because that’s so vain and self-absorbed? OK fine. The rest of us will carry on...
I do the open-mouth with teeth but not super wide. I wish I could do a closed-mouth but 1. my ma hates it and 2. I find that it either ends up looking too “cutesy” like with a double peace sign and a Hello Kitty sweatshirt, especially if the neck is angled a certain way, or coquettish, but as a pretender. Jennifer Westfeldt however, at least last night at the International Women’s Media Foundation Courage in Journalism Awards, appears to be a closed-mouth smile supporter. Every single photo of her that’s been posted on Getty which I’ve posted for you here is of the closed-mouth variety, almost as if someone recently told her, Jen, you shouldn’t smile with your mouth open. For her sake, if that’s the case, I hope whoever it was wasn’t as harsh as my Chinese Squawking Chicken who, when she saw a few promo shots of me with my mouth closed, told me I looked like I was standing on a street corner luring customers.
Anyway, here’s Jennifer presenting at the event, hanging out with Annette Bening, and seated next to her partner Jon Hamm.
