It was announced last week that the next installment of the Bourne franchise featuring Jeremy Renner has been pushed back by a year. The movie was originally supposed to be released August 2015. We now expect it July 2016. And in its place…?

Straight Outta Compton!

Ummm..

HELL YES.

I was 15 when the album came out. Dwyane brought the tape (the tape!) to school and we took turns listening to it either on our walkmans or in his car. Did I know what any of that sh-t meant? Of course not. Was I attracted to Eazy? Totally. Was it right? I don’t know. Was a lot of it wrong? Definitely.

But it’s a time in your life. And for those of us who grew up in that time, it represented a lot of discovery, an open door to new questions that led us to new understanding. Also… fun. Nothing was more fun than dancing to those rhymes.

“A fresh El Camino rollin’ Kilo G”

No, I never stopped to consider about what those words really meant. All I knew is that they just sounded so …undiscovered when they were coming off those beats.

“When you got a subject and a predicate
Add it on a dope beat and it’ll make you think”

Not really.

I’m not sure they were thinking much either back then. It got all f-cked up so fast. That’s the story they’re telling (I hope). That’s the story I’d rather see than another Bourne.

PS. Cube’s son is in the movie!

PPS. Here’s Jeremy Renner out in Hollywood yesterday.
