Shelf Ass Jessica Biel spent part of yesterday touring a new hospital and then hanging out with kids at LA’s Children’s Hospital during the Make The Difference Network holiday party.

Clever Shelfy. A new strategy. Taking the Jolie approach. Well played.

Because not everyone bothers to dig deep.

The Make The Difference Network is being promoted as a charitable organisation. In black and white terms however the Make The Difference Network is actually the Biel Family business. That’s right. It’s a business. It’s a social network that aims to help charitable organisations but isn’t exactly a charitable organisation itself. Which means it can at any time change its mandate and does not legally have to accountable for how it spends its funds philanthropically because they chose to file as a “FOR PROFIT” business listing. In other words, there is no public oversight of the activities of the MTDN through all the public reporting requirements to which charities are subject.

That’s the short form analysis of the situation. Not to say what they’re doing isn’t legit but it’s just not as altruistic as she’s selling it to be. A little disingenuous, actually. And let’s face it…what happens if MTDN actually takes off, becomes a runaway success like Facebook?

Well then the little “business” loophole they’ve classified themselves under ends up favouring them in a rather lucrative way, non?

Then again, all the MiniVan sees is her fine ass giving back to the community. Period. Now the question is: will this new strategy bring her new roles?

You know with Shelfy, there’s always an ulterior motive.
