I love the 3 segment guest on David Letterman. My friend Gab and I talk about this all the time. Not everyone gets 3 segments. Only the very, very special ones get 3 segments. Like Julia Roberts. And Will Smith. And George Clooney. And Tom Hanks. And yes, Johnny Depp.
He was uncomfortable, but he did it. Graciously. Hilariously. Endearingly. Running his hands obsessively through his hair, unable almost to look at the audience, giggly at times, one word answers that did not come off rude but rather charming. Because his shyness is authentic. Because HE is authentic.
My husband was watching with me and mancrushed HARD. Within the first 2 minutes in fact. There are not too many of them who can make the girls swoon without alienating the boys.
After taping Letterman, Johnny hit up Da Silvano for dinner.
As for Public Enemies – Michelle screened it last night. She said that unfortunately poor Marion is, um, ridiculous and the weakest part of the film. Johnny however, as usual, is sublime.
