Last week I posted about Amber Heard asking the court to get Johnny Depp to pay her the money he owes her from their divorce settlement. I also mentioned in that post that I’ve heard that Johnny is having some cash-flow problems, and that he’s apparently behind on some of his other debts, including legal. Well, he just confirmed those rumours to be true because he’s now filed documents with the court saying that Amber’s “entirely unnecessary” court request has cost him even more in legal fees and he wants her to pay them. Per PEOPLE:

The new filing also calls Heard’s behavior throughout their divorce proceedings into question, stating that she’s acted “erratically” and “uncooperatively.”

“The impact of her relentless pursuit on Johnny — the damage her false allegations have caused his personal and professional reputation, his and his family’s emotional well-being, and his finances appears to be of no interest to Amber,” state the documents.

Johnny owes Laura Wasser almost $1 million in legal fees and he’s demanding that Amber cover $100,000 of it. Now $100K is a lot of money – for us. But, um, you know that Johnny owns a private island in the Caribbean right? If you own a private island in the Caribbean, why the f-ck does your ex-wife, who does not own a goddamn private island in the Caribbean, need to be paying 10% of your goddamn legal fees? Every time he travels on a private jet, which is every time he flies because Johnny doesn’t fly commercial, it’s almost $100K. So, basically, if he’s nickel-and-diming her on a plane ride? Well it means he’s an asshole, but it also means that Johnny Depp, is hurting. Which is yet another way that he’s become a cliché. A wealthy celebrity in a midlife crisis who doesn’t know how to manage his money. And needs someone to blame for it. So now this has become all about how Amber’s “relentless pursuit” is harming his reputation and his family’s “emotional well-being”. Johnny Depp, protected by multiple movie studios, who lives behind fortified walls, is vulnerable to Amber Heard’s attacks?

Here’s how her lawyer responded to that:

“After his string of recent setbacks at the box office, I’m glad that Johnny Depp seems to have rediscovered his comic touch with this laughable motion. It is just another lame attempt by Mr. Depp and his team to not pay my client the money she is owed. We look forward to prevailing in court — and to getting sick children and women in need the money that Mr. Depp is denying them.”

That’s not just shade and pettiness though, it’s strategy. Amber’s legal team is setting up the counter-argument here that this isn’t about Amber, it’s about the fact that Johnny, professionally, has struggled. It’s a reminder to the court that he’s supposed to be MOVIE STAR Johnny Depp but that when you take a closer look, his movies cost more than what they bring in, and that there are concerns now that he’s no longer worth the investment. If Johnny Depp signs on to a Transformers movie, now you know why.
