Do you think he’d be a good date?

As soon as Lainey and I talked about the BAFTAs I got all panicky: “Where is she? Is she here?”  And apparently, she wasn’t.  She being Jennifer Westfeldt, who is absent as often as she’s with him.  \I don’t think there’s anything afoot here. I like it as a relationship philosophy: you don’t have to be attached at the hip all of every time.

So instead he went with Christina Hendricks. I …just don’t have anything to say about her dresses anymore. She wants to be the prow of a ship, who am I to criticize?  (Except how come we can see Joan Holloway’s calves but never Christina’s?)  I feel like the mother of a teenage girl.  “I give up. Let her wear what she wants.”

But I love the idea of these two being each other’s dates. Do you think they have fun together?  Does he take care to push her chair in for her?  Or are they like bros at the ceremony, cackling behind their hands and making inside jokes together?  They seem so charming and poised that I would like to believe that once the lights go down, they’re those people, giggling behind their hands and complaining that being back at work smoking makes them miss their real life smoking habits.*

He still hasn’t headlined a movie on his own.  He’s still the Mad Men man.  What do you think he wants that breakout film to be?

*This is pure conjecture.
