What a joy this morning to wake up to this – Julia Roberts and Gwyneth Paltrow, two of my favourites, two of Hollywood’s most notorious sanctimommies together at the same event, in the same photo. It’s almost too much.
The InStyle Awards happened last night. Julia Roberts, in Gucci, was there to present to hairstylist Serge Normant. I’ve not seen video of it yet but Justin Timberlake doesn’t have a monopoly on making moments all about himself, you know. If anything, the best in that category belongs, always, to Julia. My guess is that she would have said something about being away from her children, and how hard that is, and so this dude must feel truly honoured that she showed up to give him this award.
As for Gwyneth, get ready for it, she was named the Style Icon of the year, presented by Kate Hudson. G’s been winning a lot of awards lately. Variety gave her an award a couple of weeks ago (click here for a refresher) and the EMA gave her one this weekend (click here for a refresher) and now she’s an InStyle style icon, accepting in a gorgeous velvet deep cleave Schiaparelli cap sleeve backless gown that looks as good on her as it did on the runway. You know what’s tricky about this dress? Check it from the side, it’s bloused at the waist. And she still manages to make it work from every angle. Not sure about the black ribbon in her hair though. Seems kinda unnecessary.
