Amy Poehler wore this colour on the carpet at the Golden Globes. At the time, on Twitter, I called it Hillary Clinton blue. That’s the problem with this tone – I always associate it with an election.
The blue though is not the problem here on Julianna Margulies last night at the SAGs. The problem is the material. For sure, on camera, when she was moving around, especially when she first arrived, it seemed a lot more luxurious. But it really doesn’t photograph well. It photographs like wrinkled laundry. It’s like when you buy silk sheets from a store, promising yourself that you’ll always iron them, only to stop caring after a month, rationalising that no one’s going to come into your bedroom anyway.
You can’t make the same promise about the red carpet.
