Justin Bieber’s heroic evening

Justin Bieber was criticised earlier this week for starting late in London -- reportedly 2 hours delayed for “technical issues” -- and this just after he went out in a gas mask and complained on Twitter about people being mean to him. But he showed up on time, even two minutes early!, for his next show! We should recognise him for this. He deserves to be respected for being punctual. And we should appreciate the courage and integrity he demonstrated last night on stage, when he apparently had breathing problems towards the end of the performance. Bieber was treated and managed to return, because he had to fulfill his promise to his fans. Afterwards, Bieber was taken to hospital for observation. In another generous gesture that had nothing to do with how hard he can flex his pecs and abs, he posted a shirtless photo of himself in bed, letting us know that’s he’s getting better and listening to Janis Joplin, only spelled incorrectly.

It’s like when Captain Chesley Sullenberger saved everyone on the plane.

It’s positively heroic.

It’s almost supernatural.

It takes real character to finish a job on time and meet deadlines when we’re not feeling well.

I can’t wait to hear more about Justin’s divine spirit and extraordinary will in the days to come. I can’t wait to be inspired by stories about his strong work ethic and indefatigable positivity in the face of adversity. Even though Justin is humble, and would never want or expect the praise, he totally deserves the recognition. Because when a child star overcomes the seemingly insurmountable challenge of standing under the lights, as thousands scream his name, soaking him with praise, we are witnessing a miracle, a privilege we will and should remember forever.
