Justin Timberlake didn’t bend over and start heave-sobbing after a performance at the VMAs. But his weeping did get a shout out last night – and not because Ashton Kutcher punked him while he was high. As mentioned earlier, Kanye referenced JT’s tears during his Vanguard acceptance soliloquy. Here’s the transcript:

“I didn't know how to say the right thing, the perfect thing. I just—I sat at the Grammys and saw Justin Timberlake and Cee-Lo lose. Gnarls Barkley, and the FutureLove SexyBack album—and bro, Justin, I ain't trying to put you on blast, but I saw that man and tears, bro. You know, and I was thinking like, he deserved to win Album of the Year.”

It was a compliment, really. Kanye was saying that Future Sex/Love Sounds deserved to win album of the year. Well, JT was watching. And this is how JT reacted on Twitter which is his way of balling up about the man tears:

You can imagine how mortifying that would be for Justin Timberlake, right? For Kanye to tell the world that he was that upset about losing a Grammy to the Dixie Chicks? This is why he resorted to patronising Kanye in return. And when people started calling him out on that, this was his follow-up:

And then when he finally realised that Kanye was actually praising him, defending him, defending the brilliance of that album, oh well now JT’s all “Kanye is the wisdom”:

One night. Two Justins. And both cried. Bieber and Timberlake, they’ll always be connected by tears at the VMAs. But f-ck that is satisfying, non?
