For most people at Critics’ Choice, especially on the film side, they’re not bringing their A dresses. Consider that we still have the Globes and the SAGs and then the Oscars to come. Compared to those events, nobody cares about Critics’ Choice.
Kate Beckinsale, as I’ve been saying for a decade, however, is a chronic overdresser. And she was actually nominated for a Critics’ Choice this year for her excellent work in Love & Friendship which Sarah reviewed. She was not nominated for a Globe this morning. A SAG is doubtful. And she will definitely not be nominated for an Oscar. So last night was…kinda… her Oscar. Which might be why she wore this big, sparkly, extra dress.
