I can’t think of Kate & Leo now without thinking of Liam Neeson and Thomas Sangster in Love Actually.

“Worse than the total agony of being in love?”

Kills me.

Anyway, as you know, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, 10 years since Titanic, have reunited on screen for Revolutionary Road. They were both rewarded this morning for their performances by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and they grace the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly for an exclusive joint interview that is at once adorable and insightful.

Kate and Leo are tight. In a brother sister good friends kind of way. And they allow themselves to be portrayed in this light to the magazine – whether or not this is calculated or genuine is entirely up to your interpretation. I choose to believe it’s real. Because neither is particularly famewhorish.

And that too is what’s remarkable about Kate and Leo. They are the stars of the highest grossing movie OF ALL TIME. And if blogs and paps and tabloids had mobilised back then the way they’ve mobilised now, they would have grown up in an even tinier little bubble.

Through it all though, as pointed out in the article, neither f-cked it up. Seriously – what are the odds? Not only did they not f-ck up, they also managed to stay on par. Rising at the same pace. Kate has earned 5 Oscar nominations to Leo’s 3. Both continue to make quality movies. Both have earned the respect of an industry that mercilessly exploits youth and discards adults. Amazing, right?

Interestingly enough, Leo is actually asked about LipGloss and Robert Pattinson and whether or not those kids will be able to handle it, the fame, the pressure, the expectation, as beautifully as he has.

His advice was simple: put your head down, take your time, care only about the work, and remember you are replaceable. LipGloss was rather absorbed in conversation with his mentor at the Laker game a couple of weeks ago. And curiously enough, since then, he’s been rather low key. LipGloss listens to Leo.

My favourite part:

WINSLET: We have a level of understanding which I really don't have with another actor that I've ever worked with at all.
DICAPRIO: [High-fives Winslet] Yeah, homey!

Hee.
