Love Kate Winslet?

I can’t imagine.

That unremarkable Hilary Swank has 2 Oscars. Kate Winslet has none.

What.
The.
F*ck???

This is a glorious Kate Winslet on the cover of the new issue of Vanity Fair. Kate has 2 movies contending this awards season and could be competing against herself in the Best Actress Category in both Revolutionary Road with Leonardo DiCaprio and The Reader with Ralph Fiennes, even though that film is not without controversy as producers are accusing Harvey Weinstein of messing with a project, yet again, to the point of mutiny. Scott Rudin has already publicly disassociated himself from the film which has now been pushed up for a December release, much earlier than expected.

With a lesser actor, The Reader might be f-cked. Kate Winslet, however, is the youngest 5 time Oscar nominee in history. And proud of it. Not one of these nonchalant bitches who’s all like – oh it doesn’t matter to me, it’s the work that’s the most important.

No. It mattered to Kate. Enough to dance around her flat fist pumping triumphantly as she describes in the article.

Kate: incredibly endearing and so gracious and more real than any of her contemporaries. At one point during the interview she tells the journalist she’d just come from a cigarette and a coffee because she’d yet to take a sh-t that morning. Heh.

Click here for the full article  - Leo is very, very complimentary, calling her unequivocally the most “talented actress of her generation”. Also interesting to read his thoughts on her work preparation, her notes, her approach. Rather insightful if you’re into that sort of thing.

And below – the trailer for The Reader. Nicole Kidman was originally tapped for the lead role. Like… please.

Please make it Kate’s year.
