Here’s Katie Holmes on the NY set of her new television pilot, now titled Dangerous Liaisons. When I first wrote about this – click here – that’s what I mentioned when I learned of the show’s premise:
Ann (Katie) is a sweet socialite who is organises charity balls and would never hurt anyone until Rufus Sewell and his wife make a bet to bring her down and ruin her marriage, prompting her to start learning how to play the game.
As John Malkovich said:
“Now, yes or no? It's up to you, of course. I will merely confine myself to remarking that a "no" will be regarded as a declaration of war. A single word is all that's required.”
And Glenn Close in response:
“All right. WAR.”
God I loved that movie.
Only Katie’s not exactly the Marquise de Merteuil. And I wouldn’t say she’s Michelle Pfeiffer either. Basically she’s Reese Witherspoon’s Annette Hargrove. Can you see it? Can Katie turn cruel the way Reese Witherspoon so comfortably did?
My answer is that I actually can’t remember. I can’t remember if she’s good enough of an actor. This is her objective with the show. OK. I’m interested.
