Kerry Washington had a daughter, two weeks ago. While you were slavering over the Scandal finale all “hashtag Gladiators guys, come on!” she was having her child in peace and quiet. In fact, I don’t even think her Twitter account went dark.
As for the name, well, I assume it’s a family name, right? Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha. It’s not my favourite name where popularity is concerned, but I will concede that, as very popular names go, Isabelle and all its variants are incredibly beautiful. That’s why they’re popular.
I hold out hope that maybe they’ll refer to her as “Ama” (which, if I remember the incredible Paula Danziger book Remember me to Harold Square, means “Girl child born on a Saturday” – why is that book almost never in stock?) but who am I kidding? They’re not going to refer to her ever, in public or private, so the fact that you’re learning this name is about as good as it’s gonna get.
