The oldest Jonas’s wife had a child yesterday. He was live-tweeting the labour and then told his followers to follow the Dreft Twitter account for the official sponsored birth announcement…!!!!! Look! The logo is on the photo!

Dreft is a laundry detergent for baby clothes.

I mean…

It’s tacky, obviously. But this is not the discussion. Just days after Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard got all aggro on the paps and the publications that print pap baby photos, a fellow celebrity is actively pimping his child on social media. If this isn’t a straight up FOR SALE sign, I don’t know what else to call it.

Maria covered the Bell-Shepard crusade extensively last week. Click here and here for a refresher. Her point was that it’s too simple to just blame the public, the magazines, and the photographers for exposing celebrity children. But it’s stupid not to ask the celebrities themselves to take some accountability for the interest, for fueling the demand.

Bell and Shepard refuse to acknowledge that celebrities themselves set up the shots, negotiate the fees with PEOPLE and US Weekly etc, and are complicit in compromising their kids.

Because look at this Jonas business. Look at that logo all over that newborn. How can you be blamed for that? How can I be blamed for that? Or the weeklies? Or the paps? Who else can you blame BUT the famous parents?

I’ve been calling it the Invisible Celebrity Civil War. George Clooney’s saying celebrities should stay off the Twitter. Ashton Kutcher is all over the Twitter promoting himself, and posting pictures of his girlfriend. One faction legitimately doesn’t want to whore it out. I believe that Christian Bale doesn’t want us to know about his daughter. I believe that about Penelope Cruz too. But there’s another faction – with growing numbers – that doesn’t subscribe to the same standard. You know exactly who they are.

The problem is they don’t want to admit that their own peers are part of the problem. They want to fix the problem from the outside. They want to assign culpability to everyone else outside of the circle without an internal examination of their own practices.

F-ck you. Why should I, we, eat that sh-t when you’re the one feeding it to us?
