It’s Haute Couture week in Paris. This morning it was Chanel. And Karl had all his muses there. The setting: a casino. The collection was presented while celebrity high rollers played cards in a four-table pit at the centre. Kristen Stewart was the first star to enter the room, followed by her close friend and reigning Best Actress Oscar winner, Julianne Moore, on the arm of Gabriel Kane Day-Lewis whose father is Daniel Day-Lewis. Both Kristen and Julianne were in crushed velvet. That suit looks amazing on KS. And the neckpiece with that neckline on Julianne is gorgeous. Kristen, as you know, has been one of Chanel’s primary faces going on two years, just as she was figuring out and re-shifting all the elements of her life post-Twilight – the work, the style, and, yes, the romance. It’s been a great partnership. It feels like it’ll be a long partnership, not unlike the one that Chanel has had with Vanessa Paradis (who was there with Lily Rose Depp) for so many years. Julianne, as you know, was wearing custom Chanel when she won her Oscar in February. That’s been a fortuitous partnership too. For the most part, this is what Chanel does best, and carefully. Kaley Cuoco is not going to show up in Chanel at the People’s Choice Awards. And why “for the most part”? Well. Blake Lively. Also I don’t understand why Rita Ora needed to be there.
Am also attaching shots of the clothes, all of them complemented by models wearing the same shoes and the same bob, ear level and straight cut blunt. And the final piece – a bride in a pantsuit with Kendall Jenner in the coveted final position. Um, really? Is it because Cara Delevingne is off promoting her movie?
