When I wrote about Leonardo DiCaprio last week and his new girlfriend, Ela Kawalec (we’ll get to that in a minute), I noted that while he wasn’t in Cannes quite yet, he’d likely be there for the weekend and the best parties, and, of course, the amfAR gala on Thursday night – which is basically a runway for models.
Well, he made it to Cannes this weekend. With his boys, including Tobey Maguire. And he hit up the best parties. And even agreed to take a picture with Sevyn Streeter on Instagram without acting the fool and being precious.
I loved Vanity Fair’s description of Leo at their party:
Once dinner was over, guests headed downstairs for drinks, taking in the roar of the surf, enjoying rosé wine from Côtes de Provence vineyard Chateau Minuty, and lounging on Gloster furniture. A be-hatted Leonardo DiCaprio arrived and made his way to a secluded corner, which quickly became a gravitational center of the party. DiCaprio was overheard telling his friends, including Tobey Maguire, an involved story, putting on an accent and gesticulating wildly.
Can you picture it? I can, because I’ve seen it. This is what it’s like when he’s at a party. He’s the only one talking and they’re always listening.
As for his situation with Ela – right after it was reported last week that they’re dealing with each other, they were papped hanging out in New York, on bikes, and then out for lunch. He didn’t run his dad-bob into a dumpster in the presence of photographers and even put his arm around her. Please note the presence of Lukas Haas and Scott Bloom. The Wolf Pack is always present.
