As Sarah has pointed out several times, Chris Hemsworth has been absent on certain key Marvel occasions lately. For some reason he wasn’t at the Thor 2 presentation at Comic-Con last month. Maybe it was scheduling. Or maybe it just feels like Thor isn’t up in our faces so much because Loki is always up in our faces. Joss Whedon made Loki the proverbial villain who out-populars the hero. And Tom Hiddleston eagerly stepped up.
So here’s a new trailer for Thor 2: The Dark World. Loki, as you can see, is the draw right off the top. While Thor takes his shirt off a lot and throws his hammer around, promising to be noble and save people, it’s Loki, once again, who intrigues. Look at that scene between Loki and Natalie Portman. Chemistry! For some reason it reminds me of Pacey Witter and Joey Potter. That’s what the third movie should be – Loki and Natalie Portman falling in love. Or Loki and Idris Elba universe-hopping. Or Loki and Cookie Monster. (Below – PBS posted some shots of Hiddleston with Cookie Monster at the TCA. Cookie Monster is an instant mood changer. Nom nom nom makes me smile every time.) By now, even Hemsworth himself must be bored of Thor. Everyone else is.
