Lucy Liu was photographed in Ft Lauderdale yesterday directing an episode of Graceland. It’s not her first time. She’s also directed a couple episodes of her own show Elementary. So she’s using her hiatus time to develop other opportunities. I like this career move. Because, well, it’s not like they’re throwing movie parts at her. For too long, they just haven’t been considering her. But as we’ve seen with so many other actors, television has given Lucy not only a creative outlet – Watson as an Asian woman is inspired casting – but also stability and security.

Network television money is good. So many of them think they’re above it, or that it’s boring, like they wouldn’t have jumped at that when they were taking lunch orders and going to auditions every day back when they first arrived in LA.
