The Madonna/A-Rod situation is getting out of control. Rodriguez’s wife, Cynthia, will reportedly file for divorce this morning in Miami and her attorney is already on the offensive, characterising A-Rod as a chronic philanderer, abusively unfaithful, and insisting that the Yankee third baseman is indeed having an affair with Madonna and is continuing to see her, even though her husband Guy Ritchie is in town and staying at her apartment.

Madonna is vehemently denying the claims, releasing a statement to People.com yesterday emphatically declaring that her marriage is intact, that she’s not trying to indoctrinate A-Rod into Kabbalah, and that she has nothing to do with the demise of A-Rod’s marriage. Remember to read this with an English accent:

"My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study. I have learned over the years not to take accusations and the many false reports about me very seriously. I also appreciate how fiction and fact seem to be perceived as one and the same by people who read both newspapers and the Internet."

As you can see, Madge and Guy Ritchie are trying to present a united front, gathering for Kabbalah service over the weekend surrounded by their children.

So who to believe?

Alex Rodriguez is without a doubt a major douchebag. He was caught stepping out on his wife in Toronto, he supposedly abandoned her right after she had their baby, and professionally he’s an attention whoring wanker too – bitch decided last year that the World Series would be the perfect time to announce that he was opting out of his massive contract with the Yankees, thereby stealing the spotlight from those who were actually competing to win something.

So A-Rod is an asshole. But does that necessarily mean Madonna is a homewrecker?

Call me Cruise… but it’s not an automatic. Would Madonna take another woman"s husband? Totally. But is doing it right now?

It is true that for whatever reason, the Ritchies hit a rough patch. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that UK gossips repeatedly claimed they were beginning legal proceedings to divorce – apparently Guy was tired of being Mr Madonna, tired of living in her shadow, no longer willing to being, as characterised by the tabloids, emasculated in public.

Indeed, Madonna is attracted to … a certain type. Sean Penn, Guy Ritchie, they’re not all that different. Now Guy is standing by his wife, even as she’s reportedly hooking up with another man.

Does Guy Ritchie seem like the kind of limp dick who’d be ok with that? Who’d play doting dad while his wife gets it on with an athlete in the next room? Please.

Next … Madonna is currently rehearsing for her tour. You know Madonna. You know Madonna’s focus. Madonna does not mess around. When Madonna is working, Madonna is WORKING. Then she goes home to be with her kids. Then she sleeps early so she can go back to working the next day. There is no time to f&ck around, there is no time for distractions. Many people say she’s almost androgynous that way. Madonna androgynous? Actually…yes.

And finally…Cynthia Rodriguez signed a prenup. Word is she’s after much, much more. So all her allies and friends are talking. They’re the only ones talking. Turning the tide of public opinion in her favour. Most effective way to make a splash is to hang your victimisation on the back of an international superstar. And I would do the same. Cynthia Rodriguez deserves every penny she can squeeze out of that motherf&cker…but it doesn’t mean he’s f&cking Madonna.
