This is the idea.

Here’s our Mimi on the beach in Australia after performing three shows there over the holidays. She’s home now but this photo was released yesterday, just making sure you know that she’s fit...if, ahem, you believe that this image is completely untouched.

Guess what?

Just one more week.

ONE MORE WEEK until Mimi’s American Idol!

One more week until the release of Tommy Mottola’s new memoir, Hitmaker, is released. Mimi called him abusive, said he was too controlling and possessive. He counters in the book that:

“If it seemed like I was controlling I apologize. Was I obsessive? Yes. But that was also part of the reason for her success.”

Another part of her success, according to Mottola, was apparently not giving Mimi a lot of time off. I think he actually made her walk sometimes, unassisted.

“My feeling was that there’d be plenty of time for Mariah to celebrate just a little ways down the road. I’m not talking 10 years, just a few.”

Sounds like my ma -- you have your whole life to go out after you study hard.

That, naturally, was the problem. She was a child. She IS a child.

And she will not appreciate that he’s taking some credit for career. In Mimi’s mind, she’s the butterfly of destiny, always meant for this life, no matter who was managing her. Please, please someone ask her about Mottola’s claims this week if she’s on press for Idol, please, please, please.

After Mimi left Mottola, he married Thalia. Thalia met Mimi in 2005 at the 20th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. How is it that I have never seen these beautiful, amazing pictures before...?

Look at our Mimi graciously extending a hand to her successor, with a head tilt and all the condescension she’s ever learned in her entire life. I could look at these all day.

“Or, whatever.”

This is why I’m not leaving my house when Mimi Idol is on. NEVER.
