Cate Blanchett’s The Golden Age has not made the impact most predicted. As such, her performance is no longer being regarded as an Oscar favourite. Angelina Jolie’s role in A Mighty Heart is still holding up but the film was released early – back in June – and Academy memories can be short.
Industry buzz however is that someone else has captured the pole position in the Best Actress race and Marion Cotillard’s brilliant turn as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose has impressed everyone, so much so that, after much encouragement from those in the “know”, the film’s distributors have apparently unofficially launched her Oscar campaign…which means we will see much more of Marion in the months to come, starting with the cover of the New York Times Style Magazine – see attached photos. TOTAL gorgessity. And that long black strapless dress is an Armani worth $20,000!!!
But look at that face. Isn’t that a face???
Next – Marion made an appearance last night at the Hollywood Awards. Here she is, as graceful as ever, and while her dress probably isn’t your favourite, the thing with great beauties – especially French ones – is that it really never matters what they wear…non?

If you ever have the chance - See it. Love it. Love her.
And should you want more… definitely check out Jeux d’enfants or Love Me if You Dare in English. The most delightful little film ever.
