All the Sherlocks are cupping each other today over Benedict Cumberbatch’s win. And I got yelled at for saying on the liveblog that I don’t live in a world where Benedict Cumberbatch > Mark Ruffalo. Sorry. The show is fiiiiiiiine. I just don’t have the acquired taste. And if Mark Ruffalo’s part of that conversation, that’s the only flavour I’m interested in.

Ryan Murphy acknowledged both Ruffalo and Julia Roberts for their involvement in making The Normal Heart happen. Unlike Julia, whose influence is loud and honking, Ruffalo’s sway is more subtle, and his reputation perhaps even more powerful. This guy is universally beloved. And the best part about him is that he really doesn’t ever want it for himself.
