The first trailer for Ryan Murphy’s The Normal Heart was released this weekend. The film premieres on HBO on May 25th. Mark Ruffalo, Taylor Kitsch, Matt Bomer, and Julia Roberts in a wheelchair. I can’t wait to see this. Not only because MARK RUFFALO but because for those of us who grew up 80s, who lived through the onset of AIDS/HIV, this is the story to tell. It was scary. There was a new disease. The information seemed inconsistent. People were dying. Our friends were dying. And still they didn’t care. But through the work of a determined few, the message got louder. And while I worry that 30 years later, there might be a complacency that’s set in. Does a teenager worry about AIDS the way we used to back then? I remember I went on holiday when I was 17. Had a trip fling with a guy. And for years and years and years I thought maybe it was dormant inside of me. It’s time to bust out my Angels In America DVD. But only after enjoying these shots of Mark Ruffalo and his family in New York this weekend.
