We’ll start here – which is what was supposed to be the only news story about Ben Affleck last night and today, and for a change, a good news story. The premiere of Project Greenlight season 4, The Leisure Class for HBO, a project that Ben and his bff, Matt Damon, have worked on together for many years.
Ben walked the carpet, wearing his wedding ring, with Matt, but did not speak to reporters, leaving that responsibility to the always stable (no jinx) Damon, who happily protected his boy. When asked how Ben was doing, Matt answered:
"He's great, he's great. He's got a big smile on his face."
Well, really, what else is going to say? It’s not like Matt Damon is about to stand in front of the media and call out his friend. In private though… I mean I wonder, we’re all wondering. What does that conversation sound like?
Come on, man. Get it together. You have 3 kids. Stop f-cking up your sh-t.
Or is it more of a delicate approach? Like the way you deal with teenagers? Ben Affleck is basically a teenager. And sometimes you can’t push teenagers. If you tell them not to do something, they’ll do it even more. By the way, he’s turning 43 in a few days. And studios hand him piles of money to make big movies. Somehow he’s capable of holding that part of his life together while repeatedly making the dumbest assest decisions in his personal life. We’ll get to that in the next post. For now, let him enjoy this relatively scandal-free five minutes, supported by the constant and reliable Matt Damon…before we let the nanny take the spotlight, yet again.
