Godzilla: King of the Monsters opened at #1 over the weekend, but still managed to disappoint, earning $47 million against expectations of $50 million or more. That’s not a huge disappointment, true, but Godzilla’s expectations themselves were disappointing. Full Story

Stranger Things 3 premieres on July 4, and now we have a trailer to look at and guess things. ST2 was a little divisive—I like it, as it has stronger character development than the first season—but season three was not rushed out, and as a result, it looks like the best Stranger Things yet. Full Story

Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla is a good movie, and if you think otherwise, you are entitled to be wrong. It’s a good movie, and it gave us the instantly iconic line, “Let them fight.”  The rebooted monster universe—Kong: Skull Island is part of this franchise—immediately established its penchant for absolutely insane logic as characters take one look at a giant f*ck-off radiation monster and go, Yeah the planet is theirs and we are but ants. Full Story
