I haven’t watched Grey’s Anatomy since they killed off the lesbian story to kowtow to the MiniVan Majority. Clearly I’m in the minority. And the MiniVan always wins, continuing the recent trend and perpetuating what’s becoming the truth: Good taste is dead. But bad taste makes more money.
In an act of desperation to save ratings and placate the housewives who want more hunks at the expense of the writing, Grey’s brought back Denny. And since Denny’s return, the ratings have been very, very good, especially last night. Highest of the year and more than a million viewers from last week.
Let’s recap, shall we?
Denny is dead. But now he’s back, existing only in Izzie’s head, but whatever. He’s back. Which means after two years, the show still has NOT moved forward. Almost 16 million people are tuning in to watch the same thing over and over again. Because it’s better to recycle one storyline than explore new ones, with new characters, characters not necessarily likeable but who open discussion about a variety of other issues…
No…the MiniVan and the advertisers it supports are not interested in creativity or, for that matter, quality.
Awesome!
