Exactly one month. In a month the Games begin. I’m SO ready. Because as previously mentioned, I am an Olympic whore. Cannot get enough... even of the trials. The US Olympic swim trials are happening this week. So many interesting storylines, so many intriguing athletes but the Lochte-Phelps showdown has to be at the top, right? For some reason I never put it together that Lochte is older. He seems to be peaking later. Or... maybe Phelps is saving some for when it matters? There is so much fine-tuning in training athletes at this level, it’s not impossible to think that their schedules are designed so that their bodies reach their performance maximums on a specific week. They don’t need to be at their best at the trials; in London though, they will have to giv’er. I don’t care either way. I just want it to be close. Lochte and Phelps go head to head again tonight in the 200 free (finals).

Anyway, it was announced today that Muse’s new song Survival is the official song of the London 2012 Olympics to be played during athlete entrances, before medal ceremonies, and as the theme for international TV coverage. Get used to it then. Said the band of the honour:

"We are very excited to announce that a Muse song, 'Survival', has been selected by the London Olympic committee to be the main official song for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Matt wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. It's about total conviction and pure determination to win."
