This may have been the most highly anticipated show of the season, not because of Oscar De La Renta, but because of John Galliano. It was announced that Galliano would be coming back as a sort of “intern” for De La Renta for this collection. Fashion editors have immediately declared that it’s a mega success. And just the beginning of what will eventually become a full-scale return to the industry.
It is indeed the most interesting De La Renta collection in a long time. Look at the cut of those power suits. And the dress with the scene from a farm!
Sure, there was restraint out of respect for the long-time De La Renta client, but these are not the same old ordinary ball gowns Oscar’s been sending out year after year.
