Hi!  The discussion of naming - and specifically, car-naming, on Show Your Work this week directly inspired this email. See, I've had my "new" car for two years now, and keep trying to name her, but nothing has stuck. Full Article

Hi Duana!  My husband and I will be welcoming our third child this Spring. Our older two children are elementary aged. Our oldest is Vivienne Kathleen. Our son, is Bennett Michael. We do not plan on finding out our third child’s gender until birth. As you can guess, we are struggling with names. Full Article

Hi Duana!   I am pregnant with my second child, a boy, due in mid-February. We are nameless, but with two possibilities that are at extreme ends of the spectrum. I had at one time been really invested in the name River, but I’m conflicted for two reasons, one big and one small.  The small reason is that I’m not sure that name fits with our daughter, who is Miriam, nicknamed Mimi. Full Article

Hi Duana!   I am expecting my first, a baby boy on February 11th, and some last minute help would be greatly appreciated.  My husband and I can’t seem to get on the page about names (I like unusual off the wall names and he is a lot more traditional). In a compromise we came up with Arlan Elliott R, but his family isn’t too happy with it. Full Article

Hi Duana, Here's the situation - one of the lovely moms from my son's soccer team had a baby girl two weeks ago. Their favourite name (only name on the list) is Jodie. However her last name is the same as a famous actress who also has the first name Jodie. So they are afraid to use it because they don't want that comparison. Full Article

Hi Duana,   I’ve been combing through your old columns for inspiration and finally decided to reach out on my own.   My husband and I are expecting child #2, a boy, at the end of January. With our daughter, we didn’t have too much trouble coming up with names, and I love our choice of Blair. Full Article

Hi Duana,  I have been reading your column for years, as a lover of the stories of names, where they come from and how they fit into a family. It is now my turn and one of my first thoughts of course was names, and your advice. We are expecting a boy early in the New Year. It should be noted that my partner is British and has a one syllable last name, think "Bond". Full Article

Hi Duana, we are expecting our second (and definitely last) child this summer. While our daughter's name came about easily- Evangeline Marian (goes by Evie most of the time)- things haven't been so easy coming up with a name for #2, a little boy. Right now Gabriel is our frontrunner, but we're worried it might be a little too matchy-matchy with Evangeline, since Evangeline and Gabriel were the lovers from the epic poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Full Article

Hi Duana, We are trying to come up with a name for our second son, due at the end of January.  Our older son is Arthur William. His suggestion for his little brother is Cabooster, and while we've told him we'll put it on the list, it's pretty far down the line.  So we want something that matches Arthur, but that doesn't make them sound like a pair of octogenarians, with Arthur already being an old-fashioned name (especially when compared with the Jax, Chase, Jace, etc trends in our small town). Full Article

NEED YOUR HELP! I’m pregnant with my second baby and it’s a BOY! We are looking for names that start with “G” and I’m at a standstill. I have a few favourites but don’t love what my baby name books are giving me. Help! Well. Some people get right to the point, and you know what? I could take a lesson from them. Full Article

Hi Duana,  I love reading your column and am excited to finally have a reason to write in myself. I'm due with a boy in January. My husband and I already have two girls: my 12 year old stepdaughter named Avery Marie and a 2 year old named Kathryn Maritza (Kit). With their names, I liked that they both had a form of Mary for middle names to tie them together and they both have family names (Marie, Kathryn, and Maritza). Full Article
