Hello, I am writing to get ideas for names to complete our family in a few weeks! My daughter, Samantha, was named after my big sister whose nickname was Sammy growing up even though it had nothing to do with her name (Tanya). While she will share the name with lots of babysitters and bosses, for the most part she is the only Samantha on the playground (except for boy Sams - don’t forget to check the name popularity lists for the opposite gender!). Full Article

Hi Duana!  I'm an avid follower of Laineygossip and your column, thank you for potentially reading this!  :) We just had our son 11 months ago now and we decided to name him River.  I basically had the name from the get go, but had a crisis around 7 months when I started to think I was crazy for ever suggesting it. Full Article

Hey Duana,  Husband and I are expecting our first and probably only kid this November, a girl. Very excited! We are both tree/plant people. He's a tree scientist and I'm a landscape designer, so we definitely want a plant/nature name, but I'm leaning away from the super-literal. Full Article

Evening Duana! (Not yet, sweet Letter Writer, but soon…) My dearest friend put me on to you one night when I was complaining on the phone to her about naming baby #3. Our little boy, who will have brother Griffin and sister Adair, is due in just a couple months. I'm really struggling for a name this time. Full Article

Duana, My husband and I will soon welcome our second child, and if this baby turns out to be a boy, he is currently nameless! Our older child is Lorenzo and his name is a nod to my husband's Italian heritage, and my maiden name, which begins with Z. We decided on Lorenzo's name very early on in the pregnancy, but are stumped for this next little one if he is a boy. Full Article

Duana, My friends are having their second daughter in October and are stuck on a name. Their first daughter is Hayden Olivia, which they settled on quickly and early. The two front runners right now are Caroline and Paige, but neither makes them as excited as Hayden did. Other names they like are Quinn, Leah, Rowan, Lila, Clare, Jordan, McKenna, Tristan, and Adeline. Full Article

Hey Duana,   So I’m pregnant with my first child and I don’t know the sex. I’m basically set on a girl’s name, but my partner and I are having a hard time choosing a boy’s name. Help! He loves the name Wallace, and I love the name James. My issue with Wallace is that we have a dog named Wally (a very young dog) and I truly can’t deal with the idea that we named our baby boy after our dog. Full Article

Hello Duana,  Help?  My partner and I are expecting twins (a boy and a girl) and cannot agree on a name.  He is Israeli and has conventional taste.  I am South African and want a name that will stand out from a crowd.  We plan to raise our children in Israel.  The names need to be pronounceable in Hebrew and English (which means no Rs, js, or ‘ch’ sounds). Full Article

Hi Duana, My daughter was born in 2009. Her name is the same as a popular exclusive dating app. When I picked her name, it was a relatively unknown but not too exotic name. Now I'm afraid people will know her name from the dating app first. Should I worry that when she reaches dating age people will infer things about her because of this association? She doesn't even have a middle name to use in its place!   ___ Now… I had to run this letter today. Full Article

Dear Duana, (just so you know, my auto correct turned your name to Diana) I just finished reading your book and loved every bit of it. As a name geek and fellow owner of a confusing Irish name, so much of it resonated with me. As a side note, I was just in Ireland and bought a chocolate bar with my name on it. Full Article
