Remember when Jakey and Natalie used to date for 5 minutes? They are much better as friends, I know, but I was also really into it when they kissed in Brothers.
Anyway, Natalie’s been closely involved with FINCA for a number of years now, and she showed up at the 25th anniversary event in New York and so did Jake and they greeted each other affectionately and posed together which pretty much kills any chance of the two of them rekindling because you know how it works – when there’s something to hide, they’ll make it obvious by avoiding each other; their willingness to be together then means that they’re actually never going to be together. Seriously, an alien race would never understand us.
Jake of course is currently promoting Love & Other Drugs with Anne Hathaway who is said to be Natalie’s first choice as a co-star in her new raunchy girl comedy screenplay. So we’re all friends.
Joining Natalie and Jake on the carpet for a few photos is Florence Welch of Florence & the Machine, scheduled to perform on Saturday Night Live this weekend which Anne is hosting. Have you seen the Florence & the Machine baby video? Duana LOVES babies. She’s obsessed with them. So of course she made me watch this clip when I was at her place last week.
Then we got to talking about YouTube babies. This is the age of YouTube babies, the first generation of YouTube babies. 15 years from now, will these kids be YouTube-offing each other in college? Comparing views? Throwing down over YouTube popularity? There’s a screenplay in there somewhere, or several.
1. A romantic comedy – two YouTube babies fall in love after realising they were in each other’s YouTube baby video.
2. Or a regular comedy – YouTube baby video-offs become the new freestyle rap battles. Think Dodgeball meets 8 Mile meets Old School.
3. Or a twisted dark drama – YouTube baby grows up under a microscope, hates that billions have watched him take a sh-t, becomes the Serial YouTube Killer, posts murder videos and clues on YouTube, thwarts authorities for years. Truman Show + Silence of the Lambs.
Must think on this. Don’t steal my pitch!
