The film festival opens tomorrow with Black Swan as the official gala premiere and Machete at the midnight screening. So both Natalie Portman and Jessica Alba arrived today to promote their features. For Alba it’s quite an accomplishment to be included, and it will be a long time before she’s included again. It certainly won’t happen with Spy Kids either. Still...better to be Alba than to be Biel. Alba was on Letterman last night before leaving for Europe.

As for Black Swan, there are high expectations yes but some people seem to have reservations. I haven’t seen it yet, I can’t say, but so far the buzz isn’t as loud as I thought it would be. We’ll have to see how the reaction is after the screening in 24 hours.

And now every day it’ll be star presence and major red carpets. There are some big players expected in Venice to come out of summer hiding to get back to the business of selling. Really love this time of year.
