Natalie Portman was photographed in Paris today to announce that that she and Dior are partnering with Free The Children. Portman is now the charity’s ambassador:

“Investing in long term sustainable international development, which includes education, is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. As a mother and the organization’s newest ambassador, I am grateful to Free The Children for giving me the opportunity to channel my passion and love of children into meaningful action that furthers the education and leadership of young women for years to come. I hope others join me in supporting this important cause.”

Free The Children was founded in 1995 by Canadian Craig Kielburger. He’s been on Oprah! (I swear they always say that when they introduce him somewhere, like it should be the first line on his resume.) Last year, Portman worked with Free The Children on “Power Of A Girl”, supporting the development of the Kisaruni All-Girls Secondary Boarding School in Kenya. Note to Free The Children and Craig: does that mean she’s doing We Day?

All proceeds from Portman’s selection, the new Rouge Dior, Nude “Grege” no 169, to be released Fall 2012, will benefit Free The Children programs. Click here for more information.

By the way, did you see the Portman/Letterman compilation they put together on Huffington Post the other day? Before the magic of motherhood please give me an Oscar made her so annoying, I adored Natalie Portman. It’s my default position. Disliking Natalie Portman does not come naturally. What I mean then is that when she’s offending me, it’s pulling me out of my comfort zone. Videos like this one help me press reset.
