Kind of. Yesterday news broke that Neil Patrick Harris will host the Oscars on February 22, 2015. This is very exciting—NPH is a born entertainer and he’s a proven host, having done stints on the Tonys and the Emmys. We’ve been clamoring for him to host for years and now it’s FINALLY happening. I don’t dread sitting through the telecast! He’s already a triumph.

NPH now has E-T-O as a host. If the music industry would just invite him to host the Grammys, he’ll have a hosting EGOT. And since he’s also won Emmys and a Tony, and it’s not unimaginable that he could one day win an Oscar and a Grammy, he could get an EGOT as a performer, too. He’d be a double EGOT! Let’s make this happen. NPH is a once-in-a-generation entertainer, the kind of performer that’s practically gone extinct. He could very well go down with the likes of Bob Hope and Phyllis Diller as someone universally celebrated for his talent and beloved for his personality. There’s no better candidate for a double EGOT.

So what will NPH’s Oscars look like? There will be singing and dancing for sure, and hopefully some genuinely good comedy bits, maybe even some magic? If anyone could make me not hate magic—excuse me, illusions—it’s NPH. Since NPH is so popular, I expect a lot of audience participation and collaborations, but mostly I look forward to an Oscar telecast that isn’t a chore to watch.
