Nick Jonas’s new interview with Complex Magazine. It’s a good read. And, right now, he’s open to making himself a good read, over drinks with the journalist, and not imposing any restrictions on the questions. The writer got a good buzz over a couple of Old Fashioneds (my favourite winter drink too!) and decided to straight up ask Nick if he was boning Kate Hudson.

Yes, it’s a personal question. Is it off-side? The off-side line is always moving, isn’t it? More often than not, celebrities are the ones who keep moving it. On Instagram and Snapchat and Periscope. Nick Jonas is establishing himself as a solo artist in an era of constant and shared observation. So, at this stage in his career, his line is generously far back. Especially when Complex is willing to give him some pages.

“Are you having sex with Kate Hudson?”

“Umm,” he laughs. “You know, it’s interesting. You’re allowed to ask me whatever the f-ck you want and I’ll answer it, or not.”

“You’ll answer it in whatever ways it fits.”

“Kate’s incredible. We had an unbelievable connection as two humans who just admire things about each other, and see something in each other that’s beautiful. Out of my best effort to respect her and her privacy, I’m not going to say if we had sex or not. But we did have a beautiful connection. Even now I have so much admiration and respect. She’s amazing.”

So, yeah, they totally had sex. What about this “even now” business though?

We had a beautiful connection (translated: we f-cked) and “even now” I have so much admiration and respect.

What, so, like, you thought maybe after f-cking you might not have admiration and respect?

Maybe connector words, like “even now” and “even still” shouldn’t carry that much meaning. Tell me, should connector words be insightful? Or are they benign at this point because we all use filler words when we’re talking without intending on giving them any weight?

I also love that he gets down and gossips about other famous people with the writer. Which is basically what they all do, all the time.
