There were moving trucks seen outside Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's home. As you know, for weeks now there have been rumours about an imminent split. Naturally that was the first assumption. Then PEOPLE reported that the Afflecks are simply renovating. And Jennifer was seen yesterday at LAX, presumably on her way to Montreal to resume filming. She was smiling and wearing her wedding ring - click here for the photos. So, basically, nothing has changed. And by nothing has changed I mean that everyone is still waiting to see if they can sort it out. Again.
According to US Weekly, this current crisis has to do with his habits, how she has to share him with his card games and his work and his...others. Which, um, doesn't sound a lot different from their other crises. Oh and they also mention the drinking. We've seen Ben reach for the wine at award shows before, with photographers around but I guess since he directed an Oscar-winning movie, everyone's forgotten that he too has rehab on his resume. I keep repeating it but it's worth repeating: Gwyneth Paltrow was the one who said, to Diane Sawyer, that Ben makes life difficult for Ben. As much as he loved her, he couldn't help himself. Like he couldn't help himself with JLO. That was over 10 years ago. Change has been temporary.
Beyond reporting that Ben and Jen are renovating though, PEOPLE made no mention of the speculation that has surrounded their marriage over the last couple of months. Even more intriguingly, Gossip Cop, usually so quick to side with celebrities and offer their publicist's version of the story, hasn't been able to find an Affleck source to shoot down all these "the end is near!" storylines. In fact, Gossip Cop has actually revealed that their usual (pro)Affleck sources are remaining quiet. Click here to read that post.
And so, with all this in mind, their 10th anniversary approaches on June 29th. There's been a lot of talk of Ben trying to get out before that date and Jen hanging on to pass it before she'll agree to anything. The anniversary also happens right before the July 4th weekend break, when news outlets will be slowing down for the holiday. Let's see what happens then. Or if, somehow, they'll weather this one more time.
