PEOPLE posted an exclusive today about Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky. They’re “getting serious”. Fine. This is not what I’m bumping up against. Rather, it’s the way PEOPLE’s “industry source” seems to be rationalising the relationship. And what makes it work. And how into him she is:

“Jen has been mesmerized by his talent and brains since she started working with him,” the industry source tells PEOPLE.

Great. So she’s a fangirl.

And then there’s this:

“Jen is a serious actress and being around another person in the business who is intense about what he does has been good for her,” says the industry source. “I don’t know how far it will go but as of now they are a really good match, two talented people who love their work and are respected for it.”

Good for her?

She’s an Oscar winner with three other nominations and two major blockbuster franchises (The Hunger Games and X-Men) on her credit list. She was already good. Who said she needed to be around “another person in the business is intense about what he does”? Like, what are we doing here? Are we saying Jennifer Lawrence needed a Darren Aronofsky to be taken seriously? Because… I’m pretty sure she’s taken seriously. I take her seriously. She’s a f-cking Movie Star at a time when Movie Stars are no longer created. This source is a dumbass.
