The Palace has confirmed it...

Princess Catherine is indeed heir-ing!

A Royal Baby to end a year of GREAT Gossip. How can 2013 top this? Well... we have 9 months of it. And then a future monarch will arrive, some time late summer?

A few things to discuss here. First, read the announcement from St James’s Palace:

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.

The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.

Did they intend to announce so early?  The royals are very specific with their language. “Very early stages” means VERY EARLY STAGES. It seems likely then that her condition precipitated the confirmation, knowing that it would get out anyway that she’d be spending a while in hospital. As they always want to be in front of the story, they would have concluded that it would be best to put it out now, so as to avoid any unnecessary speculation.

The release came with a brief description of her medical situation:

Hyperemesis Gravidarum is very acute morning sickness, which requires supplementary hydration and nutrients.

Katy Cambridge keeps throwing up.

Because she’s carrying a Snake!

Yes, there will sit a Snake on the throne of England one day.

Boy or girl?

And name?

As I wrote last week, there’s no way it’ll be Mackenzie. Or Jackson.

George, James, Edward, Philip, that’s the idea here.

And the same goes for the girls -- Mary, Victoria, you know.

But wait before you start blasting your emails. We are definitely doing a Royal Baby Name Pool. But not yet. Give yourselves time to fully process and deliberate. And also, let’s not mess with the luck. Let her get better first.

Will and Kate were supposed to attend the London premiere of The Hobbit on December 12. Not sure if that’s happening now though if I were betting, I’d say no. I just heard that it’s sounding pretty tense over at the St James’s Palace press office right now. Obviously they’re being inundated with calls, but the energy seems rather tight. Thing is, they would have expected that if this was the original plan so given the tone in there right now, it further suggests that this was not part of the original strategy.
