Those of you who saw his show on Saturday night though – I’m so jealous! Prince was in Montreal this weekend for the Jazz Festival. He laid down a FOUR HOUR show at The Metropolis on Saturday night. FOUR HOURS. I’m told every minute was pure f-cking gold. Now THAT is an artist, right? Music for music lovers, right? And it was a small venue too. Like maybe 2,500 people, if that? Goddamn, you people are lucky. SO lucky.
Saturday was the 2nd anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson which... I dunno... moved me in some way. MJ, Prince, and Madonna, they were all born in 1958. Isn’t that an extraordinary class? I guess what I’m trying to say is that you never know who will stick around and who will go too soon.
There is a reader who writes every few weeks or so to yell at me about not posting enough Prince. Prince is not papped very often. There’s only so much you can do with old photos on the internet with a public that seems increasingly allergic to reading without some kind of current visual stimulation.
When Prince is papped though, I’m all over it. And he was papped heading to the venue before his performance with his girlfriend. He doesn’t age, does he?
